Exam and official alignment
A2 is an official Estonian state language exam under the framework published in Riigi Teataja and administered in the HARNO exam system. A2est maps modules to A2 can-do outcomes and exam-style speaking practice. We prepare you for the exam; we do not issue the official certificate.

Frequently asked questions
What level is required for the A2 exam?
The A2 exam tests elementary everyday Estonian: short conversations, basic reading and writing, and familiar topics. If you are still learning greetings and numbers, start with A1 first.
How do I register for the official A2 exam?
Register through the official HARNO / state exam channels (exam dates and fees are set by the authority). A2est trains you for the exam format; registration stays with the official body.
How long does A2 take on A2est?
The A2 band alone is about 50+ study hours. An A2 Pass also unlocks A1, so the full unlocked ladder is roughly 100+ study hours if you work through both.
Does A2 meet citizenship language requirements?
Citizenship language requirements use B1, not A2. A2 is still the common first official exam many residents take, and a solid step toward B1.
Is speaking practice included?
Yes. Lessons are audio-first, and Toomas coaches conversation practice aligned with A2 exam situations.
