1. Our goal
We want everyone who is learning Estonian to be able to use A2est. We
are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA. A2est does not fully conform yet, and
this page says honestly where we stand.
2. What we have done
- Light and dark themes with checked contrast. Colours come from one
design system. An automated test checks the text contrast of buttons
and form controls in the light, dark, and system themes.
- Automated checks. Our browser tests run automated WCAG 2.0 A and
AA checks (axe) on the home, pricing, sign-in, and learning pages.
- An accessible audio player. All lesson audio plays through one
custom player. Its play, pause, and speed buttons have text labels for
screen readers, announce whether they are on, and work with the
keyboard.
- Keyboard focus. Interactive elements show a visible focus outline
when you move through a page with the keyboard.
- Languages. The interface is available in English, Estonian, and
Russian.
3. Known limitations
- Contrast of secondary text. Some lighter secondary text does not
yet reach the WCAG AA contrast ratio. The automated contrast rule is
switched off for it until this is fixed.
- No full audit yet. A2est has not had an independent accessibility
audit. Lesson exercises, the AI tutor, the dictionary, and the mobile
apps have not been tested end to end with screen readers.
- Audio-first lessons. Many exercises are built around listening and
speaking. We have not yet checked that every audio item has a text
alternative.
If something on A2est is hard or impossible for you to use, email
support@a2est.ee. Tell us the page, what you tried to do, and the
browser or assistive technology you use. We aim to reply within two
business days (see /support) and, where we cannot fix the problem
quickly, to give you the content another way.
5. Review
We review this statement at least once a year and whenever we release a
major change to the learning pages. The next review is due by
2027-10-09.
